Mining Industry Salary Surveys
Since
1992, Coopers Consulting and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP have been
conducting the premier measure of salaried staff compensation practices
for the North American mining industry. Our 2011 survey reports were
released on August 15, 2011.
We believe
our particular surveys to be the largest of their kind and the most
representative of salaried staff compensation practices in the North
American mining industry. The success of our efforts can be measured
in terms of our sample. The 2011 reports contain data for 154 North
American based companies; of the 154, Canada based incumbent data
is provided for 111 companies and United States based incumbent data
for 68 companies. Our total 2011 North America mining industry salary
survey database contains salaried staff compensation information for
17,329 incumbents (compared to 15,980 in 2010/13,676 in 2009/11,410
in 2008 and 9,606 in 2007). Of the 2011 survey year incumbents reported:
7,800 are based in Canada; and 9,529 in the United States. Within
this group, data is provided for more than 245 Canada and United States
based mining operations (97+ in Canada and 148+ in the United States).
The
reports contain multiple sorts of the data: by company size for executive
and other corporate positions (as measured by revenue and employee
headcount); and, for mine site based positions, by size of mine site
(as measured by employee headcount), by major region within each of
Canada and the United States, and by commodity mined (again, for each
of Canada and the United States).
